Each year Champions of Hope aims to grow as an organization in ways to support our proteges and their families. As our proteges get older we understand there are unique challenges and opportunities that face high school students, as adulthood quickly approaches. We want to come alongside young people that have mentors to provide a way to holistically help prepare them for life after high school.  This is why we are creating a new Leadership Program.

This year begins our 3-year pilot of that program.  Our first step will be a 4-week Summer Leadership Intensive for twelve mentored youth. (Three weeks in Dallas and one week at summer camp in Missouri)

Beginning June 13th and ending on July 1st the first ever Champions of Hope Leadership Summer Intensive will tackle three major themes:

–Week One: Who Am I?– We want to start with looking at who each of us are, how we were created, and what are our strengths. Understanding this puts us on a path for success and focuses us as we look at life after high school. We will share our story so far and look forward to what we hope to accomplish, as well as hear from others who have gone before us in a variety of career paths through an event called R.E.D. Talks.

–Week Two: What Went Wrong?- There are obstacles to achievement. Both internally and externally. This week we’ll explore what those are and how we can overcome those. We’ll also prep for ACT/ SAT, visit some colleges this week, and businesses to learn from working professionals.

–Week Three: Is There Any Way Out?- This final week we want to look forward in hope. We want to take what we’ve learned and seek to apply it both now and in the future. This week we’ll organize and execute a service project as well as celebrate the completion with a fun day together.

We’d like to invite you to support the Leadership Program by praying or giving towards this important endeavor. Check out our Amazon Wish List for supplies that will help this program succeed.  We are also purchasing college-readiness curriculum for each child that is $30/each. Click here if you’d like to give toward that.  We really appreciate your support for this new level of real-world discipleship!
